Helping Vulnerable Children of Uganda

our vision

Transformation of the children through Spiritual growth, healthcare, education, social and economic empowerment, and sustainable development to be self-reliant and responsible citizens.

Our Values

  • We share the Gospel regularly and seek to teach God’s Word creatively as taught in the great commission. Matthew 28:19-20

  • We aim at making disciples who have a fruitful relationship with God. Children must be taught to obey Him (Proverbs 8:32). We want to make disciples who make disciples (2Timothy 2:2)

  • We believe in promoting a way of treating homeless children as family.

  • We believe in providing a safe space for these children to feel love and acceptance.

Our Objectives

The Ministry’s major objectives are, but not limited to:

Helping children meet & experience Jesus

To make a church community of street children designed to help these kids to meet and experience Jesus. Isaiah 58:6-8:

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

Firm & sound grounding in God’s word

To establish that these children be firmly and soundly grounded in God’s word and powerfully built up into Christ to affect change in their communities.

Immediate needs met

Providing immediate needs and other timely needs of children like food, clothing, shelter, and education, training them in self-reliance skills.

Experience childhood

To provide children with a childhood that they never experienced and help them to become useful members of the society.

Spark a child’s potential

To encourage children to kindle their potential by providing creative opportunities.

Provide a safe and secure space

To make available a secure place where children can play and enjoy their childhood.

Educational development

To provide basic education like reading and writing.

Facilitate & support educational advancement

To provide basic literacy and facilities for those who wish to study further.

Complete child development

To accomplish physical, intellectual, and aesthetic development of the child.

Homeless Children’s Ministry

Finding & Helping Street Children

Since the ministry was founded, through the faithful giving of our partners and friends, the ministry has reached hundreds of children in Kisenyi, a place notoriously known for homelessness, robbery, and child-human trafficking. The ministry continues to bring hope to hundreds of children.

We gather every Thursday and Friday. During these gatherings we have several activities designed for each week. On these days children get to have a nutritious breakfast and dinner. On average the number of children who attend the weekly programs ranges between 100-150. We also offer healthcare services to these children. We do this by taking the sick and wounded children to a nearby clinic for medical treatment.

We teach basic literacy which is reading and writing. Most of the homeless children have not had the opportunity of going to school and we are hoping that with more resources we will be able to enroll children into vocational training centers. We have different activities every week which range from one-on-one counseling and prayers, storytelling, singing, and dancing, playing games like soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc.

We are passionate about bringing love and reconciliation to those who have families. We contact families and promote ways to have these children reconciled and reunited.

Ministry Activities

  • Identification of Street Children
  • Preview of the incoming street children’s problem/difficulties

  • Providing meals for the children each week

Good News Club

Hope for the Future

The Good News Club (GNC), a new division of the Hossana Children’s Outreach, was introduced in January of 2023. This ministry was established in a community which is predominately non-Christian. After many months of praying, God put it on our hearts to start the Good News Club to reach out to the young children who come from poor families and especially non-Christian families. The children meet every Saturday, and they get to learn Bible stories, engage in games, in singing and dancing and in scripture memory. The number of kids who attend the Good News Club ranges between 40-70 kids on a weekly basis.

The ministry aims at meeting the spiritual, social, and physical needs of the children. We do this by helping with children’s school tuition and providing a meal during their weekly programs as well as the Bible teaching. We have an annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) for these children in the community which is led to a tremendous transformation of these children and their families.

Ministry Activities

  • Emotional acceptance of all children
  • Teaching facilities for basic education, vocational courses, and crafts
  • Recreational facilities
  • Primary health care
  • Providing meals for the children each week
  • To worship, share the word of God and for the children to pray for one another
  • To engage in fun games, activities, storytelling, and counseling
